Australian Christian Meditation Community
The ACMC is an ecumenical national organisation whose mission is to teach Christian meditation as recovered for the Christian community by the late Fr John Main OSB and which draws on the fourth century monastic tradition of the Egyptian Desert. The ACMC is affiliated with the World Community for Christian Meditation. The Director of the World Community for Christian Meditation is Fr Laurence Freeman OSB. There are over 70 weekly meditation groups which meet in Melbourne and country Victoria to teach and support the practice of Christian meditation on a daily basis. The ACMC also holds a number of Community Days, Silent Meditation days, Workshops and Retreats. Bishop Michael Putney of the Diocese of Townsville, Queensland is a patron of the WCCM.
